| Seth sees Summer and her
father having dinner with Summer's new friend, Zach. He and Dr. Roberts
are hitting it off... even if Zach talks superheroes. Ryan and Lindsay
are paired together as lab partners in a Physics class. Marissa also
appears in the episode. Seth is working at a Bait Shop in order to
get tickets (for a show we assume) for Summer. He's not doing it to
win her back but to show he can do something good for others... such
as for Summer and her new friend. His boss is a 17-year-old girl wearing
a retainer who got kicked out of school and is now working full-time.
Ryan goes to a girl's house (she's named Lindsay) to tell her he should
have gone to the dance with her. She says that anyway they wouldn't
have worked out because they are from two different worlds. Later
that night, Lindsay drops by the poolhouse. A musical group called
The Walkmen perform. |

| Julie now presents herself
as Newport Group's CEO. This episode is the beginning of a power struggle
between Julie and Kirsten. When Kirsten gives an investment pitch
to three men, Julie butts in and says she'll take the reins from here...
The potential investors grill Julie, at Kirsten's amusement, about
the recent downfall of the company. Seth suffers Post-Summer traumatic
stress syndrome! Ryan and Seth go on a Double date with Lindsay and
Alex to The Killers who play at The Bait Shop. |

| As the kids gear up for
the annual SnO.C. Winter Ball, the tension between co-chairs Julie
and Jimmy begins to ease. Meanwhile, Sandy gets closer to the secret
that has Caleb has been hiding for years. .Sandy tracks a woman named
Renee Wheeler to a grocery store. He says he's Caleb's attorney and
wants to talk to her. She says she can't speak without her attorney.
Sandy thinks she has information about Caleb and the trust. He tries
to tell her Caleb and her are facing jail time. She says there is
nothing going on between the two of them. Whats the secret? Tune in

nearly sinks Summer and Zach's romance. Meanwhile, Seth tries to

anniversary turns into a date that will live in infamy after they
catch Ryan and Lindsey in a compromising position and Seth sneaking
out of the house to meet Alex. Twice. While grounded. But neither
of these crimes compare to what the boys pull when Sandy and Kristen
try to steal one night to toast their marriage. Meanwhile, Summer
fails to impress Zach's mother, and Julie drives the final nail in
Marissa's fling with D.J. After Caleb's reveal, Lindsay and Ryan grapple
with their relationship: Is Lindsay Ryan's aunt or his girlfriend? |

| Marissa and Summer try to
convince Lindsay to take part in a girls night out. Eventually, the
ladies will end up at the Bait Shop where Summer talks with a polo
team player named Matt. The return of Alex's ex gives Seth an insight
into the sort of woman he's dating, as Ryan gives Marissa hell for
letting Lindsay booze her way through a girls night out. Meanwhile,
Sandy's idea to salvage the Newport Group's image hits a dead end
with Julie's face plastered all over it. Summer is surprised that
the polo team knows about her and Zach and especially about their
six-month anniversary. Seth and Zach sit with the comic book geeks
at school and all chat about comics. Seth seems upset but it's not
clear why it seems that it may be something Alex did at the Bait Shop.
Alex presents Isabelle, the new coat check girl, to Seth. Sandy, Kirsten,
and Caleb are at a nice restaraunt while Sandy is not happy with Caleb
and he leaves the table. |

| Ryan's attempt to reunite
Lindsay and Caleb backfires; Marissa finds a partner-in-crime in Alex
(Olivia Wilde). Seth's comic doodlings open Summer's eyes to his not-so-funny
feelings for her; and an old friend from Sandy's past resurfaces with
a favor that could rock the Cohen marriage.Sandy's former mentor,
Professor Jeffrey Bloom, drops by Sandy's new office. Bloom wants
help to track down his daughter Emily because his health is getting
worse and he would like to see her before he dies. It seems that Emily
did something terrible more than 20 years ago because the FBI is still
monitoring Bloom's house in the hope she'll contact him. Bloom says
that if someone knew where she was, it would be Sandy since he was
"the love of her life." Kim Delaney makes her first appearance
as the old girlfriend of Sandy Cohen. |

| As Caleb's troubles with
Ryan continue, Lindsay can't help but hold Ryan responsible, putting
a strain on her already-tenuous relationship with Caleb. Kirsten tries
to convince Caleb that he could have a relationship with Lindsay.
Caleb decides what kind of future he wants to have with his daughters.
Sandy continues to keep secrets about Rebecca (guest star Delaney)
from Kirsten; Sandy and Rebecca reminisce about days gone by and Marissa's
new relationship with Alex progresses. Summer decides to take an active
role in the making of the comic book, but Seth doesn't know if he
can handle spending that much time alone with her. Musician Rachael

| A kiss isn't just a kiss
for two unlikely pairings as Valentine's Day finds Seth, Zach and
Summer on the road for a fateful comic-book pitch. Seth is somewhat
incoherent and stressed due to the cafeeine and even gives new names
to characters (or creates new characters, it's unclear) like the Ironist
and Little Diva. Summer is not happy when she sees that the characters
are too close to home. She excuses her team to the business man, who
tells them the story wasn't bad but it's clear they are not ready
for a partnership. Zach's sister will be getting married in Italy
and Summer will be his date. Ryan using street smarts tries to win
over Caleb for Lindsay's sake and Kirsten celebrating her favorite
holiday in the worst way. Meanwhile, Julie returns from Europe with
a plan to save her assets, should marriage No. 2 fall apart. Marissa
and Alex step up their relationship with a kiss. |

| Sandy is forced to choose
between his old love (guest star Delaney) and his current life, Caleb's
plan to adopt Lindsay stirs up serious questions about her paternity
and Ryan is left to pick up the pieces with Lindsay after Caleb requests
a paternity test. ; Kirsten makes a bold move after realizing that
Rebecca's after more than just Sandy's legal help; Marissa gives Alex
proof of her feelings; and Seth wallows in the fallout from Summer
and Zach's hotel tryst. Meanwhile, Seth fears that he may have lost
Summer forever, as she prepares for a trip with Zach to Italy; and
Marissa's new relationship intensifies. |

and with it, old and new relationships reach a crossroads on the final
February episode. When Summer leaves Zach at the airport, she and
Seth share a kiss worthy of "Spiderman." Ryan is surprised
when Lindsay makes a difficult choice. Marissa's relationship changes
course in an unexpected way. And finally, Sandy's difficult decision
leaves one woman alone and another picking up the pieces. |

2.15 - "The Mallpisode" - March 10, 2005 |
| Billy Campbell will guest-star
on THE O.C. in a multi-episode arc beginning Thursday, March 3. Campbell's
character, Carter, will arrive in Newport Beach to work with Kirsten
on a new business venture. Johnny Messner will guest-star as Lance,
an opportunist blast from Julie Cooper's past. His story also begins
March 10. A man named Lance Bradley drops by the Newport Group asking
to see Julie, he claims he is a "blast from her past." Another
man, this one named Griffin Conroy, also from Julie's past, comes
to the office too. Julie and Griffin have a chat in a bar where she
asks him what he's doing in Newport. He's got something on Julie and
it's on tape! What could it be? Summer, Seth, Ryan, and Marissa go
to a store (even if it's closed because it's Sunday) where they get
clothes for a charity for women. An employee let them in but somehow
they seem to end up being stuck in the mall with no way out (or maybe
they just decide to stay there and have fun as long as possible...
it's not clear). Alex appears in the episode. Julie and Kirsten discuss
the making of a magazine named "Newport Living". Julie wants
to have her picture on the front of every issue and Kirsten doesn't
think it's the way to go. They meet with Carter Buckley, a handsome
30-year-old, a man who is set to help them bring the magazine to life.
Julie is not happy to have an outsider tell them what to put in a
magazine about "them" (as in Newport people). He is not
happy either he has to work for such a magazine but his publisher
is ordering him too. Later, he and Kirsten will enjoy a meal and wine
in a restaurant and talk about the magazine. Carter seems interested
in Kirsten. |

2.16 - "The Blaze of Glory" - March 17, 2005

| Marissa's
renewed friendship with Ryan brings out Alex's insecurities about
her new lover; Julie turns to Sandy for help when Lance threatens
to reveal her past by showing the Porn tape he has in his possession.
Kirsten beseeches Carter to stick with Newport Living while Seth
is determined to bring back the spirit and fun times of last year
and won't stop until his plan is fulfilled. Alex's jealousy is fueled
when Marissa enlists an unlikely partner (Ryan) to help her with
the school bonfire. Sandy wants to have a chat with a man named
Lance, who's somewhat busy with a hooker. Sandy wants to negotiate
a deal that will keep secret certain things about Julie. Students
are trying to assemble a big wooden horse on the beach (Troy?).
Marissa seems in charge of the project as students keep asking her
questions but she doesn't know all of the answers. Ryan comes to
her help. |

2.17 - "The Brothers Grim" - March 24, 2005 |
| Trey is out of jail and
decided to turn to his brother for help and a place to stay. He'll
end up staying in the pool house. He's looking for a job but it's
not working well. Ryan finds a watch Trey was looking at earlier in
the episode when they went shopping with Marissa and accuses his brother
of having stole it. Trey says he went back to the store to buy it.
The brothers' relationship goes back to what it used to be... Ryan
thinks his brother will never change. Trey wants to prove he's on
the right path now. Since he's brother doesn't seem to want to give
him a chance, Trey storms out. Ryan and Marissa go to a bar in Chino
in the hope to find Trey. There is a party at the Cohens for, what
it seems, the launch of "Newport Living." Carter appears
in the episode. |

| Sandy becomes the honorary
chair of the Newport Beach charity yard sale, he solicits help from
Trey, who has his first run-in with the Newpsies. While Sandy auctions
off Newport's finest, Kirsten and Carter share a table. When one of
the auction's most expensive pieces goes missing,(the egg). Seth,
wearing a business suit, goes to find the missing egg (from "Risky
Business" the movie). Meanwhile Alex is gone and Marissa and
Trey are in Alex’s empty apartment with the landlord. Trey is
looking for an apartment to stay in because he can't stay with the
Cohens forever. Kirsten and Carter's relationship becomes stronger.
Ryan and Marissa enjoy one another's company. |

| Ryan's brother Trey is turning
21 and Marissa wants to throw a party for him and tries to convince
Ryan to help out. Zach and Seth meet up with a 23-year-old woman named
Reed to discuss their comic. Seth seems to like Reed a lot but he
has a girlfriend so Reed is offlimits. Julie receives a package that
doesn't please her at all. Sandy and Carter become friends, Sandy
teaches Carter how to surf. Meanwhile Trey's party gets way out of
hand. Julie corners her blast from the past with a gun. |

| Sandy and Trey are busy
preparing Trey's defense in a case they have to go to trial. They
go visit a man named Tom MacKinnon to make a deal. Trey claims he
didn't do it (what he is charged for occurred in episode The Rager).
Trey claims he is protection a friend. Zach and Seth are at Reed's
Silver Lake pad where they have a chat about the comic with Reed and
a guy named Damon. They are asked to make a few changes. Seth is not
happy about this but Zach keeps saying "we will look into it."
There is a party at the pad celebrating the upcoming launch of the
comic. Summer attends. Carter and Kirsten attend a wine tasting press
party to write about it in the magazine. Marissa and Ryan go to a
Waterpolo party. |

| Trey has an event to celebrate
and he and Marissa plan to party that night. Sandy, Seth and Ryan
travel to South Beach to visit The Nana, who is living in Miami Beach,
FL. While playing shuffleboard at the Nana's coastal-living retirement
community, Seth and Ryan meet Mary-Sue (guest star Jaime King), who
helps Seth get center stage on “Music Video Nation's”
Spring Break 2005 television show hosted by Swerve (guest star Bret
Harrison) and Pixie (guest star Krista Kalmus), star of “Sherman
Oaks: The Real Valley.” T.I. performs his hit single “Bring
Em Out” in the episode. Meanwhile, on the Pacific Coast, Carter
(guest star Billy Campbell) packs his bags and leaves Kirsten alone
at “Newport Living,” and Trey (guest star Logan Marshall-Green)
misinterprets Marissa's friendship. |

| Kirsten has been drinking
more than just tomato juice for breakfast and when Sandy questions
her, he's left alone in the bedroom. When Marissa acts nervous around
Ryan, Ryan wonders if something has happened between Marissa and Trey.
Summer, tired of Seth and Zach acting foolish, confronts Reed about
the graphic novel and finds herself center stage at the "Atomic
County" launch party. Meanwhile, Caleb shows Julie that a picture
is worth a thousand words. Seth will spy on Zach and Summer. Marissa
will try to give Trey a second chance. Julie receives a mysterious
enveloppe. |

| Sandy and Caleb confront
Kirsten about her behavior. Kirsten's DUI-related accident forces
Sandy to take desperate measures; Ryan, looking for the truth about
Trey and Marissa is clued in by a familar face. Meanwhile, Summer
won't let her love triangle with Zach and Seth get in the way of her
attending the prom, and Julie and Caleb toast to their final evening
together as husband and wife. Seth and Zach try to decide which of
them takes Summer to the prom while the other takes a meeting with
their graphic novel's out-of-this-world fan; and Julie's last night
with Caleb proves to be her most memorable. |

| Jimmy Cooper returns to
Newport after a crisis at the Bait Shop puts Marissa and her friends
in danger (shooting). Meanwhile, Julie struggles to deal with a tragedy
of Caleb's death and Sandy puts his foot down to save Kirsten from
herself. Josh Schwartz says this episode will be very big and very
emotional. Hailey and Oliver also make an appearance in this
episode. |
