Aaron Spelling
loosely based Dynasty on his filthy-rich Beverly Hills friends the
Davises, who, like the Carringtons, made their billions in the Colorado
oil biz. Friday night, at Nancy Davis' 11th annual Race to Erase MS
fundraiser, Spelling said, "Not only did I base the show on them,
I filmed an episode at their home in Colorado."

But it wasn't until this past
year, when Nancy's eldest son Brandon, an art dealer, began
dating O.C. darling Mischa Barton, that the family's real-life
soap opera began heating up.
The Century Plaza Hotel event
was truly a coming-out party for this red-hot Hollywood couple,
who joined hands on the catwalk with annual co-chair Tommy Hilfiger
at the conclusion of his celebrity fashion show.
"They're just nice young kids who have a
high-profile life, and I would like them to be anonymous,"
said Nancy Davis of Brandon and her two younger sons, adding that,
"Mischa is my son's girlfriend, and she's very, very sweet."
Barton said she and Brandon will summer in the
South of France with her family. "It's been amazing,"
Brandon said of their budding romance.
The evening
offered other soapish twists. Brandon grew up with Paris and Nicky
Hilton, who were once related to the Davises by marriage. (Paris and
Nicky's aunt on their mother's side was married to Nancy's brother.)
But recently, Brandon and Barton got into a feud with the Hilton girls
(nobody is saying about what) and are now on the outs. Brandon defended
Paris during her sex tape scandal, calling her "family,"
but now had nothing nice to say about her.
With Paris in
Australia, her Simple Life co-star Nicole Richie (whose godmother
is Nancy Davis) walked the red carpet alone and said she hopes the
feud ends soon: "We've all known each other so long that I'm
hoping everything will just blow over."
Rocking to the
sounds of Cyndi Lauper and David Lee Roth near the stage was Tori
Spelling, seated alongside fiancé Charlie Shanian. The two
will wed in Malibu this August with papa Aaron walking her down the
aisle.
