Rite extends Mischa as spokeswoman for Keds

Keds Corp., a subsidiary of
The Stride Rite Corp., announced Monday it's extending its agreement
with actress Mischa Barton as spokeswoman for the brand.
The agreement extends Barton's
role to include international rights and the actress' contract for
an additional year. The brand has committed to a three-year contract
with the actress from 2005 through 2007.
As part of
this agreement, Barton will appear in the footwear company's
print, television and outdoor advertising campaigns, direct
mail, in-store materials and online in North America and around
the world, as well as make personal appearances domestically
and abroad on behalf of the brand.
Nineteen-year-old
Barton currently plays the lead role of Marissa on the FOX-TV show
"The O.C."
The
spring ad campaign was launched in March 2005 and continues through
May. Lexington-based Stride Rite Corp. (NYSE: SRR) reported Keds'
sales increased 7.6 percent from first quarter 2004, which were $42.4
million, to first quarter 2005, which were $45.7
