Who needs the radio
when you’ve got The OC? Quickly becoming one of the best ways
on TV for unknown artists to get their names out, and for established
artists to improve their profiles, the Fox television series recently
landed the privilege of premiering a track from Coldplay’s
upcoming third studio album, X&Y.
The song in question
is “Fix You,” which the majority of the world’s
population hasn’t yet had a chance to hear (legally), with
the possible exception of those who miraculously scored tickets
to tonight’s “buzz gig” at Toronto’s Kool
Haus. According to Coldplay’s website (www.coldplay.com),
the ballad is one of the band’s favourites from their new
disc.
It’s
this week’s episode, airing on Thursday, May 12th, that
will hold “Fix You” within its 60 minutes of drama,
drama, drama. No stranger to debuting major artists’
new material, The OC played the Beastie Boys’ “Ch-Check
It Out” before anyone else, and recently aired the “Beckisode,”
which featured five songs from Beck’s not-then-released
Guero album.
