Meg Ryan and Adam Brody ('The OC') are to star
In the Land of Women," a bittersweet comedy that will mark
the directorial debut of Jonathan Kasdan, according to Variety.
"It is about a comedy screenwriter from
L.A. who, in the wake of a tumultuous breakup, heads to the suburbs
of Michigan to take care of his ailing, eccentric grandmother,"
Kasdan said. There, he becomes involved with a house full of women
across the street.
Ryan committed to the film a month ago,
expecting to shoot it before joining Kevin Costner this fall
in the adaptation of T.C. Boyle novel The Tortilla Curtain.
Kasdan postponed the film to wait
for Brody. The 26-year-old was the director's top choice but
was unavailable because of his series commitment. They'll wait
for his series hiatus, with Brody taking on his first film starring
role. Ryan will make The Tortilla Curtain next.
