Sunday night
at Tokio, Chris Weitz hosted a benefit bash for the victims of the
Russian school massacre that also, strangely enough, served as Warner's
DVD launch party for one of TV's glossiest sudsers, "The OC."
"Like the rest of you, when
I think 'The OC,' I think international hostage crisis," Weitz
joked to the crowd.
In truth, the producer-helmer
first contacted the Intl. Foundation of Terror Act Victims
online, then suggested the benefit to Russian emigre and Hollywood
Life publisher Anne Volokh, who already had the DVD bash in
the works.
"It's random, but in the best way," Weitz said,
before cheerfully admitting to using the skein's "reflected
glamour" for the benefit.
